Raising a child with a mental illness or other disorder can make a parent feel isolated. Using the following links you will find lots of other parents who on the same journey as you, some further ahead and others just starting. You will find that it’s really not your fault and it’s okay to be angry at times. Whether you choose to find a face to face group or an online group it’s important to get support for yourself. Taking care of yourself allows you to be a whole and present parent (even though you will still wish for your happy place).
My Kid’s Bipolar, Now What?? Is an online support group for parents of children with Bipolar Disorder. In this group you will connect with other parents for support and understanding. You have the ability to share pictures and videos as well as your own blog feed on your customizable home page. There is chat available as well as a forum that is easy to navigate. This group is my own creation and it is, like many things in my life, a work in progress.
The Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (CABF): Through the CABF message boards, chat rooms and support groups, you can get feedback and ideas about what works and how to advocate for your child.
