Meal Plan #FridayFly

Oh, I am so bad! Between the stress of basically a life style change and (to be honest) the complete joy of being home with my daughter,  I have yet to post my meal plan for this week! So, here you go!

I like to print the week's meal plan on my big dry earase board!

Sunday: Kalbasa, Red Beans and Rice, and Corn Bread Muffins

Monday: Steaks (grilled on my George Foreman), Baked Potatoes, Bake Beans, Crossaints

Tuesday: Spaghetti, Salad, Fresh Bread

Wednesday: Crock Pot Chili, (left over) Salad, Corn Bread

Thursday: Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Candied Yams, White Rice, CocoNutty Bread (home made)

Friday: Friend Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, White Corn, Biscuits

Saturday: Apple Spice Pork Chops, Yellow Rice, Pink Beans, Puerto Rican Bread

I do like to plan meals weekly to allow for current favorites and seasonal stuff. However, I keep on file a set of 5 menus that are all spelled out and include complete shopping lists.

Show Me the Money

There are many careers that require great negotiation skills. Such as a lawyer, or a marriage counselor. Real estate agents and personal recruiters need great negotiating skills. Oh, and of course, hostage negotiators (which is what I often feel like). I am proud to say LaBella could nail any one of these jobs for she is the ultimate negotiator. The following conversation is excellent evidence of her wonderful negotiating skills:

LeBella: “Mommy, can I have some cookies?” (This is 5 minutes before dinner, mind you.)
Me: “No, it’s almost time for dinner.”
LaBella: “But I’m starving! I’m gonna starve to deaf!”
Me: “You are not going to starve to death in the next 5 minutes.”
LeBella: “Yes I am! And you don’t even care cuz you don’t love me no more!” (que the dramatic sobbing)
Me: “Why don’t you go set the table, then it will be time to eat?”
LeBella: “No, no, no! I need to eat now! Please, Mommy, just one cookie?”
Me: “Fine, one cookie.” (Let’s face it; I’m never going to get dinner on the table with her sobbing at my feet.)
LeBella: “Oh, thank you, Mommy! Can I just get three?” (Here we go…)
Me: “I said you could have one.”
LeBella: “But I’m starving! I’m gonna starve to deaf!” (I will never win!)
Me: “One cookie will hold you over for 5 minutes.”
LeBella: “But, I’m so hungry my stomach hurts!” (Can you say Drama Queen?)
Me: “I will give you two cookies, that’s it.”
LeBella: “Ok!”

I’m starting to think two cookies was her diabolical plan all along…

Not Me! Monday

It’s time for Not Me! Monday (a blog carnival created by MckMama; you can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have NOT been doing – but really have!).

I did NOT borrow my intro from It Feels Like Chaos because I couldn’t think of a better one. I have NOT been grouchy all day because, for once I couldn’t think of anything to blog about. I did NOT high five myself when I found a link to a Monday Meme (therefore relieving the sucky blogger guilt).

I did NOT run from the computer to fry up corn fritters after reading Elizabeth’s posts over on Trenches of Mommyhood.
And I did NOT take a picture to compare to hers…..

I did NOT gag as I plugged in the griddle and I did NOT throw up in my mouth a little when I moved the olive oil to get the flour, because I did NOT read The Inadvertent Farmer’s electrifying (if not a little slippery) post.

I did NOT feel incredibly disappointed when reading one of my favorite blogs today…Because I did NOT breast feed my minions at OUR convenience. Regardless of where we were.

I am NOT still working my way through the Sunday paper, so that is definitely NOT the reason I’m signing off…

**I also did NOT link back to a few of my new favorite blogs….**
